San Francisco Muslim Community Center
San Francisco Muslim Community Center
Our mission at the San Francisco Muslim Community Center (SFMCC) is to nurture the growth of faith and to cultivate a healthy and dignified community life grounded in the guidance of the Qur’an and the example of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Within this space, the life of the Muslim community finds expression through learning, reflection, service, and responsible participation in the society in which we live.
SFMCC exists to preserve the integrity of Islamic tradition while encouraging understanding, education, and cooperation among people of many backgrounds. Through charitable service, educational programs, and public engagement, we work to strengthen the moral character of individuals and to support a community life that reflects sincerity, discipline, and care for one another.
Friday Prayer (Salat al-Jumu’ah)
We gather each Friday as a community to remember Allah, renew our faith, and strengthen the bonds between us as neighbors and servants of God. In the spirit of dignity, reflection, and unity, all are welcome to join us for Jumu’ah prayer at 1:00 PM at the African-American Art & Culture Complex. Come as you are, bring a prayer rug if you have one, and share in a moment of worship that reminds us that our purpose is not only devotion to God, but service to humanity.
1st and 3rd Saturday Community Food Distribution
Our work together extends beyond the prayer itself. On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, we gather to distribute fresh food to the community beginning at 9:00 AM in the AAACC parking lot. This effort reflects a simple principle: faith should live in action, compassion, and care for our neighbors. Volunteers are welcome, and all who are in need are invited.
All are welcome.

As-Salaamu Alaikum,
We thank each of you who have come out and shared in these blessed nights with us. May Allah shower His mercy upon us all, accept our fasting, our prayers, and every act of sincere worship in this sacred month.
We invite you to join us for our final Ramadan gathering this Wednesday at the San Francisco Muslim Community Center. Let us come together once more in remembrance, gratitude, and fellowship.
More than anything, let us remember: the relationships we are building with one another are far more valuable than any resources we may exchange. What we offer each other in presence, in care, and in sincerity is greater than anything material. These relationships are not static—they grow, they deepen, and they unfold in ways we cannot always foresee when they are nurtured with intention and sincerity.
During Ramadan, we have been brought closer together for the purpose of drawing nearer to our Lord. Seeing one another more often, greeting one another more intentionally, standing shoulder to shoulder—this is not something to leave behind or take lightly. It is something to carry forward.
Let us not allow this spirit to fade. Let us continue this fellowship beyond Ramadan. In our togetherness is our strength. In our communication is our growth. In our service to others is our success.
May Allah keep us united in goodness and increase us in faith, understanding, and love for one another.
We look forward to seeing you Wednesday, insha’Allah.
In Community,
Jason Ross Brown (Salah Abu Muna)

The San Francisco Muslim Community Center (SFMCC) is grateful to share that we have received $20,000 in general operating support through the FAITHS program of the San Francisco Foundation.
We received this news during the blessed month of Ramadan as our community entered the final ten nights, a sacred period for reflection, prayer, and renewed commitment to service. It is a meaningful reminder that the work of building community and caring for our neighbors continues to be recognized and supported.
Our work is guided by the vision of Imam W Deen Mohammed, who taught that the purpose of a faith community is to cultivate community life. Faith should be reflected in responsible citizenship, service to neighbors, and participation in the shared life of society.
Through fellowship, service, and cooperation with other faith communities across the Bay Area, SFMCC strives to contribute to a spirit of unity, dignity, and care for all people.
We are grateful to the San Francisco Foundation for their continued support of faith communities working for the common good.
